The Centre for Violence Prevention (CFV) is an interdisciplinary network that works preventively against violence and inequality. We develop and disseminate knowledge about violence and offer training for professionals as well as group programmes for people affected by violence. Our primary target groups are young people in secondary education and decision-makers in public institutions.

Centre for Power Analysis founded
In 2019, the Centre for Power Analysis was founded in Nørrebro, with a focus on uncovering violence in society and helping those affected by violence to move forward through group programmes.

Centre for Power Analysis constituted as a general association
In 2020, the Centre for Power Analysis was constituted as a general association with a board, volunteers and a CVR number.

Talk about Violence launched
In 2020, Talk about Violence was launched. Its focus is on providing group programmes for those affected by violence, including programmes for mothers, fathers and relatives.

Femicide Watch launched
In 2021, the Centre for Power Analysis launched Femicide Watch - the only initiative in Denmark that monitors femicides and analyses how they can be prevented.
2021
CFV North founded
In late 2021, CFV North was founded. The current head of CFV North, Cecilie Kramer, was one of the driving forces behind establishing the branch.

CFV Funen founded
In 2023, CFV's third local branch was established, alongside CFV North and Copenhagen. The Funen branch was created to strengthen knowledge about violence on the island of Funen.

At CFV, all staff actively incorporate the global goals into every initiative to prevent violence and homicide, integrating them into project delivery. Overall, the global goals serve as a framework to guide our work and ensure that our efforts not only address specific problems, but also contribute to broader global goals around health, education, equality, justice and international cooperation.
NEW WAYS OF TALKING ABOUT VIOLENCE
"We regard violence as a societal problem and not as a problem for the individual."
We recognise that physical violence is often linked to discrimination, meaning that people who have experienced physical violence have typically also experienced linguistic forms of violence such as discrimination. We therefore treat discrimination and psychological violence on an equal footing with physical violence.
As a member of the association, you gain tools to prevent violence. Together we create the societal change necessary to prevent violence.
CFV's organisational methods reflect the organisation's commitment to combating all forms of violence.
We develop policy in collaboration with those who need change. We engage with politicians, draw on expert knowledge and share the experiences of people who have experienced violence. We use this knowledge to design targeted action plans and educate participants, professionals and students. We focus on transforming negative experiences into strong, inclusive policy against adversity.
The organisation's efforts are therefore structured around three offerings as a preventive, primarily violence-prevention-focused approach. In this way, CFV works purposefully to break the cycle of intergenerational violence.
A DYNAMIC KNOWLEDGE BASE
We continuously gather new knowledge about violence from the organisation's three initiatives. The result is a range of knowledge products on violence prevention that can be applied in practice for different target groups.
